Ballingwilling, Co Cork, 06/01/2009

Wed Jan 07, 2009 10:56 am

People: me and basslover1

Duration: 21:30-00:30

Tide: HW about 1am

Weather: calm and cold

Bait: fresh lug, razor, sandeel, black lug

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, single hook clipdown

Results: me - 1 flounder, Kevin - nothing again!!

Report: Took a notion to head out to an East Cork beach last night late on, so headed out quickly to dig some lug in the dark. Got enough for the session in about half an hour, which was good. Decided on Ballinwilling and gave Kevin a call to see could I get him a fish at last.....

Very quiet, I had two bites, one of which resulted in a flounder of around the 20cm mark to lug and the other to nothing even though it was a much more positive bite. Nothing doing on the distance rods. Getting good distance since I cleaned out my reel the other day.

Nothing for poor Kevin, but urged him again to try De Wall or Ballycotton pier today and get over this blanking he is up to, so hopefully he'll have something positive to report later.

The beaches are fishing very poorly at the moment - but the southwesterlies forecast for the weekend combined with the strong tides should produce an improvement.

Hopefully Basslover1 will have a good session soon.
