People:me

Duration:3 til 5

Tide:4ish

Weather:mild but big swell

Bait:lures or should i say lure[jointed thunderstick]
dd
Rigs:

Results:12 bass 1 sea-trout

Report:As the weather and temps looked favourable,i decided to fish my fav bass mark.It had been a while since i fished it but after 5 mins the memories came flooding back, screaming reels and all that.  .Plenty of fish flashing at the plug in fact they seemed to be playing with it.Anyway managed to winkle the odd one out here and there ranging from43cm to82cm.Missed plenty as the swell made it a bit dodgey to let the fish express themselves.Just when dusk set in i hooked into what i thought was a small bass it turned out to be a beautiful sea trout of41cm,that was a first for me so i was chuffed to bits :P :P
Just as a point of note just seen cortazs pictures and the bass with the lure just under the mouth replicates a fair share of the way my fish hooked themselves a bit strange as normally they nail the lure. Also in my experience the fish were behaving as if they were about to shoal as they were bobbing about and flashing at the lure :o :o ,i've seen them do this before just before the real winter sets in,but until the cold snap hits its going to be plugging through the winter.Best of all no sign of nets and no net marked fish, all in all a good day
Tight lines

Hi lads,
cortaz the place was hopping with fish, would love to hit it tommorow but knowing the mark id need my flotation suit so i might have to give it a skip but you'd never know.Whats the story with bass this time of year they don't seem to hit as hard in fact it might need 2 or 3 attempts at the lure before they are hooked up,i've only seen them do this very early in the year before april, there were much bigger fish out there but no way would they hit, very frustrating,it looked like a shoal of mullet initially until you put a plug on them then there were 3 or 4 fish following right to the edge where thy would hit.
Thats one hell of a fish down wexford way, some feet to land it on spin gear as i know how hard and clever these big fish are hence me always using 25lb flurocarbon as a short leader.I do agree that there are huge bass on our coast that i think never leave or go far offshore during the winter, its just to get the right conditions and be patient and keep fishing.
All the best

i don't know maybe the fact that so many fish are getting hooked outside because the are turning on the lure with there gill plates trying to hit the lure with the sharped end of the there gill plat?
great fishing and lovely size sea trout .
