People: me fein
Duration: 7.30-10
Tide: lw and about an hour of fill
Weather: 2 heavy but short showers, gusts of wind
Bait: squid, mac, sandeel
Rigs: 1 hook pulley, 3 hook flapper
Results: 1 shore rockling
Report: after blanking on the top of the tide at the beach in the daylight before i decided to try the other side of the point
with the tide out i found a spot of clear to mixed ground and was fairly confident of getting the rigs back in - first casts on each rod and to my surprise no crab plague
the distance rig was only cleaned twice - and in front - the crabs either had it smoothered instantly or were missing - very strange as usually the plague is consistent
the squid bought me time at least and the rockling appeared after an hour - as a crab dropped from the top and middle hook of the flapper - he appeared on the bottom
was happy out as it was a pretty miserable evening - and decided to take a chance here rather than the more exposed pier in spiddal

Ya see there is fish there

Well done Brian on pulling one out

do you reckon that point has more potential? wouldn't mind giving that disused pier a belt at some stage...

i reckon this clear spot towards the tip of rabbit island is the way to go - the other parts of shore have too many large boulders as well as the minefield of the weed and smaller rocks - wouldnt mind fishing the fill a bit more where i was last night - but was a bit time limited
the pier below could be alright on a spring - but it has silted up a good bit - the real key is finding the path down to it from the roscam side near the railway - instead of parking at ballyloughan and walking all the way down - could be 40mins - with the gear
ive heard there is a path etc. but no definites

essentially the access you can see on this view is through a private residence - there is a path with a gap in the iarnrod eireann fence that the lads apparently use - but your still crossing the private land etc.
