JWLS,

I'm glad you guys enjoyed your trip and hope ye will be as successful next time down. Just to clarify before I get bombarded with messages for photos. I have a pic of the two crackers I kept today (7 released) from when I got home. Unfortunately, I had left my camera in my shore box from the last nite and couldn't get the action shots. Mores the pity as a seal near enough swam up to my rod tip and it would have made a brill photo - next time!

You and your mates are real gents and good sportsmen. What impressed me from the off was your choice of tackle. I could tell straight away you guys meant business - greys, loomis, etc. Lucky I had those spare plugs to lend ye though

JWLS,

now you know why I don't quite get overly-excited about double figure bass! No offence to anyone either. :)

Well done lads that was a hardcore session sounded like ye had some sport!

Shore king id say the fly rod would have been well broken in with one of those fish in the pics

Yeah,

its the guideline rs salt rod, really nice. I've matched it with a saltwater reel and a rio outbound line. Would have been a great test of the gear, especially the bigger one of the two. Never mind, next time.

Would you be up for a bit of fishing thursday if i could get down or maybe even point us in the direction of some water that might hold a few double figure bass ??

Ballydwane (but be careful of the tides there), Ballyvooney (same applies), Ballyvoile, Clonea (castle), Goldcoast (low water), Cunnigar (low water at oysters but mite be gettin late in year), Sullivans (one of my favourites from now till Christmas), Glencurran (low water) etc etc. :?

thanks everyone.

I'm not sure about ballydwane road coz thats not where we have been fishin lately. Will PM the directions for those spots later. If not tonight def tomorrow nite as I may be out.

I'd say pluggin works all year round but it is just more consistent in the summer. I've had bass on plugs in every month of the year. However, I rarely use poppers in the cold weather. Again, in my opinion you can't beat quality tackle for pluggin. If your thinking of buying a spinning rod, buy a decent one. I don't worry about breaking mine coz they are lifetime warranty. Also, some of the plugs I use I haven't seen with many other people. They are discontinued or simply uncommon over here.
