hi there,
im new to here but not new to fishing..

im from south kerry originally and as youngster did an awfull lot of fishing from the rocks at kells (where im from)... long summer evenings spinning for pollock and mackerel..
when i got a little older i used to go boat angling with the kells bay sea angling club..lots of great memories of big conger and ling and all the rest of them..

then in late teens my sights turned to mermaids and geting on a boat at 10 am on a sunday morning just wasnt going to happen!!

anyway enough of the nostalgia.. for a while now i've been itching to get back to some fishing.. so thats why im on here guys- to try and get a feel for som of the shore fishing that inever got into.

i recognise the little surf beach in the photograph, its a beautiful bay.. didnt realise you could catch bass there this late in the year... i know during the summer and autumn many fish reenroe beach for bass.. i know nothing about bass fishing im hoping to get a few ideas here.

i dont like mentioning names of marks but..
one venue id love some experienced info on is a very large beach facing the mouth of dingle bay.. there are many sand dunes there..and a creek aat the back and flats where you can dig lug- that should be enough of a description for anyone who is familiar! ive heard mixed reports some say at the start on the beach over at the left near the rocks.. some say at the back near the break water.. some say at the very farthest point..

also, anyone know what species i should be able to target off a reasonably deep water mark just beside kells bay in winter?

i kindaof have a romantic notion of spinning for bass from the beach (aforementioned)while walking/wading along it on a summers evening... i donno.. maybe thats impossible.. but i hear they swim really close to shore..

Can be deadly, just as its getting dark, particularly in calmer seas. I recall a trip to Kerry last year where my first 3 casts on a little beach had 2 bass and a seatrout with another bass throwing the hook at the shoreline on the 4th. It was a magic weekend, between the 3 of us, we had 20ish bass and a few sea trout, all on spinners. I've tried the same technique down here with considerable success too. Give it a go. Jensen tobies and Kiltys worked very well.
