ok headed out to a new mark which i want to try not known what to except our even if there was a way down to it or not after hopping over 2 fences was on my way down to the mark looking fantastic on the way down there was a little bit of a 30 foot cliff face yo had to walk over
anyways back to the fishing there was lovely flat rock platforms to fish from and a small bit of an in let which exposed sand like a beach when the tide is out but if you tried to fish from there you would be cut off by the sea.anyway set up shop and there was a lot of weed around but was close into shore as the rock platform was around 12ft up no problem casting out over this got a few knocks in the first 30min then the rod hooped into a fish reeling in and got a fine plaice not far off the 2lbs mark
next i set up a second rod and trying to target ray huss with sand ell and mackerel not standing 10 meters away watching the rods turned my back for 2 seconds as the small fella slipped on his backside the 2 rods and tripod gone
looked over and could a basket shark in the water he must have went over the lines i could se the 2 rods in water so not letting 600 EURO wort of gear gone in the sea i striped down and into the water managed to get the 2 rods back and tripod minus 1 reel it was a cheap reel but still a reel and saying that the rod stand was also a good 10 feet back from the edge so i didnt let that damping my sprite i still fished away for another 1 hour to no joy but it is a mark ill be going back to again.

Nice Plaice,
Who said fishing was boring !
Fair play for going in after the rods!

Lovely Lookin' plaice.
Dont mean to be a killjoy but the pics combined with report make it seem very dodgy if anything had happened to ya during the recovery mission

I'm sure that wasn't the case but couldn't help wondering how the wee lad would get back to raise the alarm in the event of any difficulties. Not questioning yer good self, just thought it an opportune moment to highlight safety issues for those of us prone to takin' the odd risk

Something for us all to think about though.
Look after yerself mon.

the inlet was next to rock platform i was able to walk down to that sandy patch and walk in to the water up to my waist the waves had washed the rods in that bit closer to the shore i was standing there for ten mins thinking what to do as i knew if i went by the rock platform i would have been smashed up against the rocks. safety is think you do have think about when rock fishing as a freak wave could just spring on you and drag you into the water you just never know what could happen

Well done on the Plaice. That looks like a mark with a lot of potential.
It was a bit of luck on being able to get the rods back.
Is the little beach there only accessible by wading? When I looked at it on Google Earth I thought it might be difficult to get down to the sandy area alright as I know the cliffs are fairly steep along that stretch of coastline - confirmed by your photos.
Was fishing from the rock platform snag free?
