People: Myself, Bruce Vaughan and Sean Finnerty
Duration: 3 hours. 12 pm to 3 pm
Tide: HW @ 11 am, 3.9 metres
Weather: not that bad, occassional short squall, strong westerly wind
Bait: Nil
Rigs: Spinners mostly sand eel patterns
Results: Sean did not fish. 5 pollack, all bar one around 1-1.5 lbs, best fish 4 lbs
Report: Drove down to meet Sean but our plans to fish for rays on beach marks on Gorumna Island were driven ashore by a big swell, heavy weed and strong near gale force westerly / south westerly winds. Retreated to eastern shore and spun fished whilst pioneering new marks - I have fished here before down at Tra Bawn but dear God the ground I have missed by driving past it! Took the big pollack on a suprisingly shallow inshore mark right at the dead, it must have followed it in a long way. Fat heavily coloured fish, photo to follow.
Other fish came from a remarkably deep hotspot about a mile further inland.
Had to head off at three whilst the others went off and looked at other marks for another day.
Nice to get out, even better to get a few fish...
