Report:Theres alot of geese in the lough at this time of year, and because the eel grass grows on the same mud flats that the mullet feed on at high water the mullet stay away

I had to find a mark that has no eel grass in close,so i headed to a mark i dont fish very often and haven`t fished it since May.
I arrived at the very smelly mark 2hrs before high water and i wish i`d got there earlier cos the mullet had already moved into a channel.2nd or 3rd cast i missed a bite but it was early in the session so i wasn`t too bothered and there was a hell of alot of fish around to keep the hopes up.Once the tide had filled the small channel and spread out over the mud flats the mullet spread out too,but there was easily 200 mullet so it didn`t matter as i had loads of different groups of fish to target.
I`d only been fishing for 30mins or so when i had a really solid bite and i was in to the first fish of the day.Not a massive fish at 3.45lb but very welcome start. After that i moved 100 yards along the shore to a big group of fish in shallow water.Straight away i noticed these were mostly smaller fish of around 3lb but there was a couple of fish in the 5-6lb bracket so i stuck it out.It took about 25mins to get them to feed on the bread but i still couldn`t get a hook into a fish,i missed 2 brief hook-ups before they moved out to deeper water.
The tide had just started to turn and i had to follow the fish before they moved away altogether.Nearly every fish i saw was taking the odd piece of bread and it was just a case of watching the water for a feeding fish and casting to it.I`d only 45mins of fishing left when i had another good bite, this was a better fish and took a few good runs before it was in the net.No time for a photo so i just weighed it and returned it as quickly as poss, this one came in at 4.2lb
The tide was hammering out by now but the fish seemed really hungry and were taking every bit of bread as soon as it hit the water.I missed another couple of fish as they smashed into my bait on their way out to deeper water then i cast out again and my bait was hit as it hit the water but it also missed and the bread sank, ten seconds later it came back and this time time it didn`t miss. This was a very good fish and shot off 40yards before i turned it then done it again and again

It was just about beat and i dragged it towards the net when the feckin hook pulled

the water was very clear and i reconed it was atleast 5lb maybe even touching 6lb

.That was the last fish as they had moved to far away to catch up with them again. This is a great mark and i`ll def have to fish it more often.
Another good session and i`ll hopefully get a couple more in before the end of october, but only if the rain stays away.
