Ennereilly, 17 -October-2008

People: Me (later joined by JD to catch up on old times)
Duration:5:00 pm -10:30 pm
Tide: rising, big tide
Weather: fair, light breeze
Bait:rag, lug, sandeel
Results: dabs, way too many small whiting

Lucky to get out at all after Boycie's fridges packed up the night before and took the bait with them, I managed to get some together and headed off to Ennereilly for few flings before I headed off the USA. Was joined later by JD and we caught up on old times for a few hours.

Catching activity was restricted to numerous pesky small whiting, with only one of any size, and the odd dab as darkness fell and the tide rose over the sand bar. These little bites became annoying after a while, so at about 10:30 pm I packed it in. Not a great day on the fishing front, but good to catch up with JD again in person and better than sitting in and watching Pat Kenny on the box.

I also got to try out my new Daiwa 7HT and compare it with the Ambassadeur 6500CT sports mag I got last year. I concluded the Daiwa's the better performer and more comfortable to use, though I was only getting at most about 20 metres more out of it than my 1978 Ambassadeur 6500c.

Ennereilly really is one of those beaches where you've gotta know your spot. I'll be back in November!
