Report:Headed up to Fahan to try for my first ever thornback. After a small detour ending up nearly in Letterkenny

I finally arrived in Fahan. Tide was a little closer to low water than I wanted so setup as quickly as possible. First cast and I was getting bites straight away while trying to get my second rod setup and missed the bites. Re-baited and I was soon into a nice doggie. Almost straight away I was into another fish hoping it would be my first ever Thornie. Just as the shockleader broke the surface the fish managed to escape and I didnt even get a look at it

Things went quiet for a while over slack water. As the tide filled again I got a good knock and struck. The fish was on I was just hoping it is what i was waiting for and sure enough as it broke the surface I saw my first ever Thornie. It was a little on the small side but I was over the moon to have landed one. I managed 1 more nice doggie and a very greedy flounder taking a 4/0 baited with a good stip of mackeral and a strip of squid.
Not bad day I added 3 species to my fish count for the year Thornie was a first ever and I havent caught a flounder for about 15years.
Would like to say a big Thank you to Fishermannum1 for all the hints and tips. I will definately be back as this is a lovely venue with great scenery.
