Results: over half a dozen pollack




Report:
Three hours fishing at one go, sad, but manna from heaven! I was hoping to land a nice big pollack but no success there. Did get a fair few ok fish around the lb mark or over. Was interested in trying out different lures in an effort to tempt the biggie

Yellow Flying 'c' - no bite at all
Golden Toby with silver reflection strip - hooked one ok fish, lost him, not touched after that
Luminous Krill imitation rig - numerous bites and decent fish, unfailing
German Sprat - not a sniff
Jelly worm on leadhead (did get me good pollack before) - no bite
White coloured sandeel imitation - numerous bites, nice fish on first cast
Green coloured " " - no interest
Storm Shad type (got me a 3lb pollack in Connemara) - not touched

Had to go when it was getting dusk. It could have looked like there were no fish within 5 miles if I had stuck with some of the above lures. Time well spent on a nice autumn evening

Did you ever try deep spinning a sandeel or king rag off these marks Blackie? Used to find that an absolutely lethal method for Pollack in my rock fishing days when they wouldnt sniff at artificials.

I haven't tried bait at all for pollack, I've got a bit lazy in the last couple of years, and tend to go for the lures without fail . I took some VERY OLD sandeels out of the freezer last Tuesday (disappointing report to follow), but I put them back in to the freezer along with some mack fillets - and just brought the lures again!!

I was wondering if static bait fishing is any good for pollack? Any opinions.....

I should and will go for the bait some day soon, but I'm guessing the window for pollack is closed for '08?!

pollack love baits too - just not too tight on the bottom - floated or ledgered up the line - nighttime best - but they keep feeding for a good while yet
