West Cork Beach, 16/10/2008

Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:06 am

People: me, petekd and Nik

Duration: me and Nik 19:30 - 23:30, Pete 17:00-21:00

Tide: HW 19:00ish

Weather: calm, clear and chillyish

Bait: rag, razor, mackerel

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, pulleys

Results: Pete - 1 flounder (23cm), Nik - 1 Dogfish, me - 1 conger, 2 dogfish

Report:

Hit the usual mark to meet up with Pete. Not been fishing well of late, but old habits die hard. Pete went early to try and hoover up all the flounder before we got there. Unfortunately, he didn't get a touch until about half hour after we arrived when he landed his flounder to a mack strip at about 5yds. That was it for him, and he left an hour later or so.
I fished a rod in close with mack strips all evening, but not a touch on it. My distance rod had all the action, everything taking razor (but given that was all I fished on it, it was hardly surprising). Spread out throughout the evening just to stop me getting bored, the conger first before Pete left, then the two dogs. Nik got a doggie late on, also at distance to razor.

Conger was my best strap off a beach, I'll post up a photo of it when Nik sends it on
