) told me that this pier was fishing better than the lighthouse one with plenty of decent whiting showing. I arrived at 6-30pm and set up near a father and son combo who had been there all day. My arrival coincided with the arrival of whiting and the young lad was pulling them in as i set up. They stayed about 45mins from the time i arrived with the young lad getting 9 nice sized whiting

. Waiting for Neil, i set up the small rod and picked up a couple of small whiting just off the edge of the pier. When Neil arrived we set up near a bench and cast out. We were immediately getting bites and Neil was soon getting doubles. It was great to have a session where the rod tip was nodding all night keeping us busy. Just when i remarked that it was going a bit quiet Neil got a rattle ,,"I'll leave it out and pick up a treble" he said ."Yeah,,sure

",says I,,,,,but he wasnt joking and when he reeled it in sure enough there was 2 whiting and a dab on the bottom snood for good measure

. I had a two hook flapper and tried the same trick,,,,got a rattle and left it for the second hook up but instead of getting a double the first one slipped the hook and got off

. What can you do,,,thats the chance you take,,,it was great to be getting the chance to try these methods. We measured a nice sized whiting at 30 cms and there were more of that size . I was happy enough when i got a couple of doubles ,including a dab

.We must have caught at least 30 between us ( ok Neil,,,,you shaded it

) including some dabs. All in all a very enjoyable nights fishing and well worth the drive down. Hard to believe its October already but hopefully i'll get a few more nights like this before the end off the year.(hopefully more than a few
