I had a short session at Rossbeigh beach on Sunday morning fishing from 7.30am to 11.30 am.There was a very light SSW wind and after a chilly start it became very warm as the sun came up over the hills.A gentle surf was running and conditions appeared to be perfect.
Low water was at 10am so I had to leave at probably the best time. The first hour and a half passed by without a bite on either rod. Then an hour before low I had a small Coalfish , followed by a double shot of a Thornback Ray of 3lb and a Dogfish .I then had a couple more Dogs and had a cracking bite bang on low water which took the rod straight over and took about 15-20yards of line, whatever it was came off and the hook had opened out a little. The bite looked like a typical ray but it could have been a Bass.Anyway I had another 4 Dogs and on the last cast a 4lb Thornback ray.Best bait was lug tipped Mackerel , one of the rays fell to sandeel. The fish came from around 100 yards.

Sean , I started of at the entrance about 50 yards to the right of the cafe , which was as close as I dare to all the weed that had been washed up with plenty in the water too. After about an hour or so without a bite I moved around 300 yards towards the end , to the right as you face the sea. Here I had bites and fish from the second cast right up until I packed up.
