Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:46 pm

People:shammoo,corbyeire and myself

Duration:6-11

Tide:ebbing

Weather:calm with clear skies

Bait:a variety, with small bits of rag being my most productive
dd
Rigs:three hook flappers

Results: my own results where- 17 whiting, 2 pouting, 5 bass, 1 codling, 6 dabs and 10 flounder.
lads will post theirs im sure.

Report: texted mark to see what he was up to, and as he was on his way to arklow with brian, i decided to tag along, had some bait left over from the cod hunt so hopes where high of a few fish, arrived at the beach to be greeted by flat clam seas with a small swell rolling in, dropped my rig just in the suds, and was soon rewarded with a whiting double, on the next cast i managed a small codling and whiting,, the lads had caught a few whiting too, i decided to go shorter to the point where i could almost see my rig out of the water and soon found the flounder and schoolies, doubles where coming including my smallest flounder and smallest bass on the one trace, the trend continued with another 4 small schoolies and more small flats, the dabs where there in numbers too, got a serious slack liner only to reel in a lovely flounder of 36cm and a smaller 25ish one. brian and mark hit a few dogs a distance on squid, had a few cast trying to get my own one but just got whiting. all in all lovely night.

whiting were a plague - most were over the 20 at least so some doubles and trebles were mildly interesting - not in permantent competition mode like some people

couldnt tell you how many i had

had 3 flounder biggest about 30

a dab counter

a micro pouting

had 3 dogs to the same squid head bait!

it was good craic holding onto the short rod and feeling them nibble at it before a strike - enjoyed this the most of the night

nice mark - bar the ugly cement plant and the boy racers in the background - blessed again with a lack of micturation

Had 5 dabs (all took frozen lug), 1 flounder, 3 dogs, 1 pouting.....lost count of the whiting once I had over 20

Certainly had over 35 fish by the end.

Only had one fish at distance and that was a whiting, everything else caught within 5 yards. Seeing Eric getting a few schoolie's (they were more like infants , but bass all the same), I tried a few big lug & rag baits 5 yards out trying to tempt a decent sized Bass, but alas nothing but bare hooks from the whiting coming ashore.

A nice clear night, first time fishing the beach which is always a pleasure, but no SOLE !!!!!!, well there was eric's SOUL, but he aint no James Brown

Its sure was    , I had packed up the distance rod with an hour or so fishing left, and just had the flapper out in the suds, holding the rod in my hand, as Brian said, great craig feeling the bites, you sure do notice the tug a better fish gives you that way :D

A few pic's of Eric's flounder..........he didnt ask for a photo of any of his BASS........that tells its own story

blessed again with a lack of micturation

:? :? :? :? Is there something you were'nt telling us last night :?: :?: :?: :?:

You wanna google that term Brian and see what you get.............

I've eaten bigger whitebait down at the Anglers Rest

But seriously, a bass is a bass after all....and only a little jealously on my part that I didnt get one.

I must remember never to fish in the middle of a threesome (not as rude as it sounds) as those bass rarely make there way past the 1st scent trail
