East Cork beach - Tuesday 7th October 2008

Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:27 pm

People: Me

Duration: 10.00 pm to 12.15 am

Tide: HW at 11.30 pm

Weather: Clear, cold, light wind

Bait: Rag, mackerel, razor

Rigs: 3/0 pennel pulley, 2 hook flapper (3/0)

Results: 1 flounder

Report: I had a bunch of rag left over from the weekend so I headed out for a quick session. As it was quite late when I was leaving the house I decided to try an easily accsssible beach rather than take the long walk to my favourite mark. I hadn't fished it for quite a long time. There was about 4 other anglers there when I arrived.

About half an hour after setting up I got a bite - but lost it 3/4 of the way in. It was quite for a while after that then there was a solid knock on the rod. I retrieved to find a 35 cm flounder on the line.

There were no more bites after that.

That was the first time I got a flounder on that beach and the first time I have fished there since March or early April so I was happy enough.
