You didn't try for congers there?

go to your right from that pier about 300 metres

there are small cliffs facing the ones in clare - big wrasse and pollack there - and im sure conger

if you can get it out a bit there is clean enough ground there too

i only ever lose tackle on that small pier when i try on the bottom - so nice one on the dogs

Main pier is well worth to try. I hade congers up to 160 cm there. Short cast,(one rod just bellow wall), bid bloody bait, and I'm sure, congers will appear (drop net, or heavy nylon shock leader is nessesery- otherwise your fingers will be cut, when lifting congers  )
Also you can found big wrasse, just inside the pier close to the rocks. Good siezed pollock and coalfish from the top.
Good luck. tomi.
