Report:
We decided to try a new venue last night that looked a 'cert' for Bass. Nice little cove with big surf running into it. Set up and soon after we had company, 3 surfers came onto the beach and proceed to paddle down and fall off their boads directly in front of us for the duration of their stay  which was nice of them
Anyway we started to fish after they left, we had 4 rods in the water with an assortment of big baits at various ranges to source the fish. The first hour passed and the baits were coming back intact and untouched.
The sand hoppers marched into town and over ran our base camp, we were covered in them

About 2 hours in Carpets got an aggressive bite which he struck, had the fish on for a couple of seconds with a good bend in the rod, but he got off the Pennel.
My flapper rod got a shot next, I struck and landed a Coalie on Razor, not the target but it will do to get things started!
Carpets landed the next coalie on crab I think on the pulley after he got nailed.
Quiet then for a while with a bit of weed begining to become in to the mix. While I was rebaiting a trace one of my rods bent over in the stand and straight away i was into slack line, Bass.com was ringing in me head :P , I caught up with the fish and he put up a great account of himself but our dissapointment it was another coalie :|

We gave it a short while longer but nothing else happend unfortunatly.

Thats another mark chalked off the list for this week.

Coalies can put up a good fight alright, a better fight than you would expect for the size of them. I got my first one in about five months a few weeks ago and thought I had a small bass on the line from the struggle he was putting up.

Sure sign the summer is over (if it ever started) when they start showing up.

They hit hard alright, pity we dont get them to any great size from the shore here.

The codling shouldnt be too far behind now with the cold coming back into it !
