People: Me and Jonny

Duration: 20:00 to 22:50

Tide: High water 19:15

Weather:dd Windy

Bait: Old rag and frozen mackeral
dd
Rigs: 2 hook flappers

Results: Me 1 dog and 1 codling, Jonny 2 cups of tea nd 2 chocolate biscuits

Report:We had some rag and mackeral left over from Sat and as we wont get out this weekend decided to head up the coast for a couple of hours to use up the bait.

We wanted to fish Waterfoot pier but there was some sort of family outing with women and kids so it was a bit crowded. That was enough for us to move on.

Went a bit further round to the small harbour at Dalriada in Cushendall to give it a go.

The wind was quite strong when we got there and there was a bit of a swell running due to this.

First cast i got the dog and we thought we were in for a good evening. Didnt get anything else the rest of the time there but the baits were stripped on every cast.

When i brought my gear in at the end of the session we found the reason for the stripped baits. I had the smallest codling i've ever seen! About 4" long. We had a laugh at that.

As always it was great to get out and at least i didnt blank!

Seems to be the curse when you land a fish straight off sometimes. always good to get out on a night like that anyways.

Must have landed at the pier shortly before you guys! Set up camp beside the p*ssy wall and fished for 1 hour with good returns. There was 3 of us fishing and we managed: 1 plaice, 1 LSD, 1 dab, 2 pouting, 4 whiting, 2 poor cod. Mack proved the optimum bait however we were using squid and rag also. Brill nite and super to get out mid week! O and well done on your codling!! :)
