People: me fein

Duration: 7.45pm-9.30pm sat evening 12-2.30 sunday

Tide: just starting to ebb sat, beginning to fill again sun

Weather:overcast - occasional light rain

Bait: mac sandeel lug all frozen

Rigs: 3 hook flapper, 1 hook pat, 2 hook clipped

Results: 2 flounder, rod rest, rod, reel, and rig!

Report: arrived much later than expected - still loads of surfers about - waves were in and out very irregular - first cast out at distance plain sandeel - rod tip started going - left it a bit and then struck - but no hook up

sandeel was pulled down the hook - seemed like something decent - then that was it on the distance rod

2 lads i knew had been surfing and called over offering a cup of tea - things were quiet so i walked the 300 yards away from the rod - had tea biscuits - went back and there was a tea bag on my flapper - small flounder - the flounder walk still works!

glad to see

stayed another 30mins and had a good rattle and had a second flounder of 30cm

out again with a hangover next morning - couldnt make sense of the swells - the tide was flying in - then it would slow down - then back in again

foolishly i was trying to have 2 rods out - nothing was doing

had an awful tangle on the large rod - had bag and gear 150 yards back - went to it to get scissors - while i was back there the tide came in about 3 foot and knocked over the stand

hands full with line - just had to get them free!

ran back to where the stand was but it was gone - not even burried

no sign of it - waded around nothing - was at this 10 mins - and then saw the rod floating further out - no way could i wade

was considering asking some of the surfers or kayakers to get it - at least id have the rod and reel

a few more minuets went by and the sea surged and it brought the rod in closer - went up to the waist and got drenched - but got the rod - it had managed to tangle the stand in the line about 20 metres on - so then got that and started moving before the waves got higher

got back up the beach and found the trace still on the end of it

time to go home!

that place can have a very strong flow on it at times, so you were indeed lucky to recover your gear "and yourself "
 i bet you forgot about your hangover after that
