Report: We headed up the Antrim coast from Larne and had a look at a few marks along the way. Most of the rock marks were already being fished and the rocks at Cushendall were totally packed out as was the pier so we decided on Waterfoot beach.
We arrived on the beach in bright sunshine with no breeze at all. It was one of the best evenings this year.
We spoke to an English angler before setting up and while we were talking to him he landed a flounder about 8 inches long. Decision made!
We set our gear up as quickly as possible and started getting bites straight away.
Jonny got the first fish, a small flounder and i quickly followed with a weaver. Thought i had a small whiting so glad i looked twice before grabbing it to remove the hook!
We got loads of really positive bites but the fish weren't getting hooked which became very frustrating.
Towards high water everything went quiet so we decided on a last cast, as you do, and things started to pick up again so we stayed on and had a few more fish.
The fishing wasn't the best night that we've had but it was a beautiful evening to be on the beach but we had great craic and a BBQ and our batteries are recharged for the week ahead.
Roll on Saturday
