People: Myself
Duration: Aabout 3 hours
Tide: Falling to dead low and a wee bit on the up
Weather:dd Not bad, minor breeze
Bait: Rag and Lug
dd
Rigs: One hook distance with size 1/0 hooks
Results: 5 plaice, one dab, one whiting, one pouting, one sea trout
My first fishing session in over 6 months due to some issues and it was a humdinger!
The biggest plaice just touched 4 lbs and all were "keepers" the smallest being a shade over a pound. Kept 4 and had two for tea last night - they were delish!
The pouting and sea trout came on a wee spinning rod I was using around the fringes - trout was about 1/4 pound.
This mark looks freakin awesome. Its rocky for about 40 yards then onto pristing sand. Roughly, based on float depths, its about 18 feet deep 3 feet off the rock!! I don't know how much deeper it gets as you go out. This was one of the first times I've fished this but I'm sure it could turn out to be a golden spot. I'd welcome any suggestions on how you guys might fish such a mark and what to expect??
One thing about it is its a 30minute walk across some MAJOR hills and if it wasn't for the intervention of a farmer on a quad bike I'd have been trampled by a herd of cows - the things we do!
Heading back today - I'll keep yis posted.

New day, new mark
People: Myself
Duration: About 4 hours
Tide: Falling to dead low and a wee bit on the up
Weather:Pissing rain
Bait: Rag, mackerel and sandeel
Rigs: One hook distance with size 1/0 hooks, short little bomb rig for scratching
Results: 9 dogs, 1 huss (short of 6lbs) 13 wrasse (3 corkwing), pollock
This is a rock mark fishing out onto Broadstrand beach. I was fairly convinced it was rocky for about 20 feet and then onto sand but the results above suggest otherwise. I was fishing grip leads and never once got even a little bit snagged. Any ideas on the ground??
I was fishing for ray as this spot has produced them in the past and I missed one clear cut bit but that didn't come to anything. Feet up for today, back out tomorrow

People: Myself
Duration: About 4 hours
Tide: Rising from dead low
Weather:Pissing rain on a biblical scale and a focking gale force wind blowing
Bait: Rag, mackerel and sandeel
Rigs: One hook distance with size 3/0 hooks
Results: 5 dogs, 1 huss (only wee), one small ray (kind of)
Same place as the 2nd report above. Hideous hideous weather altogether brought a premature end tothe session. Delighted to see the ray ( it fell off just as I lifted it but I'm counting it!!). It was about the size of a plate I'd say.
But by Jaysus the weather this morning!

Thanks for the congrats boys. The 4lber was a once in a lifetimer alright. I have a pic of it on the camera, I'll upload when I get back to civilisation.
Forgot to mention, all the wrasse on day 2 were very small, barely counters really

Blaker did you use a rope by any chance to get down here, fished a mark along there before but blanked. Found the ground to be mixed. Funny place the Broadstrand, must have fished it quite a bit the year previous, getting good shelter from the winter gales, but nearly always blanked.

Went back to Blindstrand on Saturday - one dogfish. I was fishing the rising tide to full so it appears that this is a low water mark.
