Report:

Had a weekend down in Wexford planned with Corbyeire for a while now, had fished a Wexford beach friday evening and as our host's (saltydog, thanks again for the bed's) were heading to Dublin for a Tope session, we decided to head a bit further south as we had plenty of time on our hands. We decided on Rosslare Point as it was suggested to us to be a good spot for Smoothies, Ray and Bass. Expectations raised 8)

Arrived to find a few other anglers around, so we gave ourselves a bit of distance and set up right on the end of the point at the entrance of the channel. The place looked great I have to say, nice clean sand and a good depth of water out in front of us. We decided to use a 3 hook flapper @ around 40/50 yards and a pulley as far as we could cast.

I presume that we had arrived at LW and it had just turned back in as it was quite slack. On Brian's first cast he had 3 macks hit his baited flapper on the retrieve  Blank saved atleast.

It was evident that the fishing was going to be tough as the crabs were ravaging most of the baits and a decent tidal rip was now pulling our rigs towards the anglers to our left, this resulted in the odd obligatory tangle :(

Seeing as the bait fishing was so slow, I put a lure on and went for a bit of sport with the macks, a good few were caught within the next hour, a good few lost aswell.

The tidal rip had now become unfishable, 6 oz grips were not holding bottom and a cast way to the right, was soon out in front of the anglers to our left. We sat and contemplated our next move, Brian decided to fish a small beach round to our right (100 yards away) hoping for the odd flattie and in the mean time I had noticed a few flashes of silver by the rocks in front of me....Bass :!: :!: :!: these few flashes quickly became lots of flashes, it looked like a Bass disco 8) 8) 8)

I threw on a spinner and worked my lure up and down the edge of the rocks (Brian soon joined me too), I could even see Bass flying past my lure within a few inches of it, but for whatever reason it was play time rather than feeding time, lots of mullet shoaling with them aswell. Myself and Brian reckoned on some of the Bass being upto 7-8 lb and mullet well upto 5-6lb maybe even bigger. Boy was it frustrating seeing all those fish and not being able to hook up, I kind of felt like a kid in a sweet shop who had left his pocket money at home

By now tiredness and frustration had us deciding to give the small estuary round the corner a go, atleast the tidal rip would not be so bad. This resulted in a solitary mack for me...what a way to christen my new Penn Sidewinder and 7HT

Time for some dinner now and with the light gone and no more fish we decided to head back up to Wexford to meet up with our hosts for a late evening/early morning session........and hopefully some better fish to show for our efforts

No fish of any note, so no pics.

Oh, we did see the local lifeboat crew dragging a dead body out of the sea, but that was about as exciting as it got  but I'm not sure it would have been appropriate to take a photo

Once back in Wexford it was decided we would fish the infamous Clones Strand, Brian had the lions share of the fish here, so I'll leave the report to him.
