North Dublin Bass Mark Fri Aug 28

Fri Aug 29, 2008 10:16 pm

People: Myself and my wife tagged along as it was a warm evening

Duration: 20:00 - 20:40

Tide: 23:30 - Flooding

Weather:dd Warm / overcast. Easterly breeze 10 - 12 knots

Bait:
dd
Rigs: Yo Zuri Banana Boat Silver & Black

Results: 1 Bass 40cm - c 2.5 - 3lbs

Report: Was itching to try new Mike Ladle 1010 pro and technium 5000 that arrived yesterday, so headed down to a local mark for a quick session.
Water was quite coloured from the easterly breeze and a bit difficult to cast in. New rod and reel worked perfect though, casting was easy with no danger of a windknot (must be the small guides) despite some very forceful casting!
Anyway plugging away with a walk the dog style, just at dusk I noticed a big swirl around the plug, I twitched once more and bang, a massive take and huge line run (still hadnt come to terms with the correct drag setting!) and after a good scrap had a lovely bass of around 40cm. I assumed my wife had her camera phone with her, but as usual in these circumstances, no phone, hence no photos.
Very pleased how the setup handled this bass, as my previous carp rod was a bit too soft and led me to lose similar fish in the past.
Starting to get the faith back...
JK
