Report:
26th Aug 2008havnt had the chance to post a report here in ages but have finally managed to get some time to do so. fished a beach ive been anxious to fish for ages last night. conditions were perfect with a lovely surf and no weed present. because of time constraints and the fact i was really only prospecting as to what was present i fished 3 rods. a wish bone pulley loop rig on one targeting flatties, a pulley loop on a second targeting bass and dogs and finally a pulley rig and mack fillet in the hope of a ray.
first cast resulted in a single flounder on the pulley loop rig and a double on the wish bone rig, these coming to lug and mack or lug and squid strip cocktail. the third rod resulted in a slck liner and mauled bait, what it was i am unsure as i wasn't really paying attention to the initial bite. things became decidely quite ater this with only a few timid bites to break the silence. with the ray rod being quite since the initial run i tried loading it with lug and casting maximum distance in the hope of a bass further out. this was left out of gear with the ratchet on as i had to bait up the other 2 rods. 2 minutes after casting out i had a good run on this, but alas it dropped the bait. pretty certain it was a bass. things stayed quite until about half an hour after hw when i had a good bite on the wishbone rig. this was followed by a good tussle which had me sure i had a small schoolie but surprisingly it turned out to be a flounder of about 30cm..this proved to be the last action of the night so off home i headed. interesting night with a little food for thought as to the potential of this beach. flounder were pretty small but seems to be a few present

27th Aug 2008with a good bit of lug left over from last and a brief restbite in the southerly winds i decided to head off and try for a few wrasse on one of the local rock marks. fishing a float set at 10 feet i had a constant stream of bites from the time of arrival to half an hour befor i left. most of the wrasse were only about one and a half pounds with one better fosh of about 3 and a half putting a pleasing bend in the ultralite. first time ive float fished for wrasse in years and had forgotten how enjoyable it is. also nice to have all the wrasse hooked in the lips, nice change from the occasionally gut hooked fish you get when bottom fishing for them. also think it was my first corkwing wrasse ive caugth. think its the first new species ive had in about 3 years.
