West Clare Rocks, Sat Aug 23rd

Mon Aug 25, 2008 9:16 pm

People:Myself and my eldest

Duration:2 hrs

Tide: Ebb

Weather: fair with a bit of drizzle

Bait:Rag

Rigs:Bait hanging under a drilled bullet

Results: Myself many wrasse (two beauts) one Trigger fish under 1lb. Aidan More wrasse (also containing two just under 4lb) and a big Tirgger........ well beaten by an 8 year old 8)

Report:fished just under our feet with the ragworm brought down from Dublin. The Two triggers came mid session one after the other and then no more. My biggest thrill was watching my son and his 5 foot long 12g casting rod dueling with the big wrasse and the trigger and coming out on top.

The first Trigger fish was mine and the smallest I have ever seen and too small to take home, the second was Aidan's and would provide two fine fillets (I had decided if I caught a trigger I would take him home for dinner as I heard they are tasty fish) but the boy insisted he went back- well his fish, he decides, what can you do? At least he is taking catch and release to heart even if it did cost me a fancy seafood diner

We were brought there blindfolded by army rangers in a helicopter, but I will try to work it out from the GPS tracker in the phone
