Thu Aug 21, 2008 12:07 pm

People: Me

Duration: 6.16 - 9.00 pm

Tide: HW at 8.40 pm

Weather: Sunny, parly cloudy, light SW breeze, dry

Bait: rag

Rigs: 2 hook flappers (size 2/0 and 3/0), three hook flapper (size 1 and 1/0)

Results: 5 flounder and 1 bass

Report: I still had a bunch of rag left over from Tuesday evening so I decided to head out again, especially as it was a nice evening.

For a change I tried the opposite end of the beach I usually fish. It was a bit more weedy, and flatter - the speed of the incoming tide took me by surprise - nearly lost my bucket of rag

I had three rods set up, one cast as far as I could, the other at moderate distance and the thrid in close.

The rod in close had the first bite about 30 minutes after setting up - a small 21 cm flounder.

About 20 minutes later there was a knock on the moderate distance rod - this time it was a slightly bigger flounder - 27 cm. This was quickly followed by a 32 cm flounder on the rod in close.

There were no bites on the rod furthest out so I recast it to moderate distance. Shortly after there was another bite - as I was reeling it in I could feel a stronger pull than the typically flounder and as I hauled it out of the surf there was a small undersize bass of 37 cm.

A little later I got a 31 cm flounder quickly followed by a smaller one at about 25 cm.

It went quite after that - there were no more bites after 8.00 pm - the weed got quite bad in close as the high tide had lifted it off the beach, so by 9.00 pm I decided to pack up - maybe the flounder were much smaller than the three big ones I got the previous evening but I did get a bass this time
