Fished down that way myself a good bit this last month or so.
Ray are not plentiful, you might get a ray or 2 over 4/6 sessions, not many smoothies (bigger ones) either unfortunately.
Plenty of dogs and whiting with a few flatties in my experience so atleast your kept busy.
A couple of my latest reports from down that way.

Put the effort in on that stretch of the coastline and you'll get your rewards, but you cant expect to get decent fish on every visit, it just doesnt work that way.
Dont be afraid to vary your fishing spot up/down the beach a bit either, with very strong cross currents along that stretch and very little tidal movement in/out, I'd be sure there are plenty of fish all within a 80/100 yard cast.
Hope this helps and better luck next time.
