East Cork rock mark - 15th August 2008

Sat Aug 16, 2008 1:27 pm

People: Me

Duration: 6.15 - 7.45 pm

Tide: HW at 5.40 pm

Weather: Overcast, slight southerly wind

Bait: Rag worm

Rigs: 1 and 2 hook paternosters (size 1/0 and 3/0 hooks)

Results: 1 ballan wrasse, 1 dogfish

Report: I dug some rag for the weekend in the afternoon and decided to head out for a short session on Friday evening.

I baited one rod with rag and did some plugging/spinning with a second.

Sortly after casting out the bait rod I got a strong bite - and hauled in a 2.5 lb wrasse.

About 15 minutes later I got the dogfish.

There were fairlly constant nibbles on the bait after that but no hook-ups - fish were taking the bait off the hooks - I should have brought some mackerel to tip the hooks but it was a spur of the monent decision to head out and I just took the rag.

There were no bites at all on the plugs/lures.

Still I was happy enough with the result for a 1.5 hour session - and the biggest wrasse I have caught in East Cork so far.

Thanks Dave,
I thought there might be a few wrasse at the mark so I was delighted to eventually get one there.
