Bangor Pier mini species

Took my first trip to the peir for some serious fishing after readnig all the posts about all the different species being caught. Was lucky enough to be handed a bucket of rag the night before while fishing in strangford (1 mackeral caught that night). Mush appreciated fellas if ya ever read this!?

Soon as we landed we were a bit unsure about where to fish exactly but i really dont think it matters! Fishing was awesome as the tide rose and forced us off the breakwater. The wee bro got 5 dif species in a row! Goldsinny, 2 Ballan, poor cod, rockling & Shanny in total. I got 3 scorpionfish, poorcod, 2 ballan & a rockling.

We went over to the right then and caught another 3 ballan and 18 shanny!

Great fun on the light rods and very worthwhile heading down with a bag of rag.
On that note... where and how do people get their rag from? I've seen it on mail order in the mags but surely its easier and cheaper to get somewhere else?

Good to see the pier still producing the goods , you can pick up some good wrasse in the boulders 2lb plus ,on light gear its brilliant craic .
As for rag ,the only local place that stocks it is belfast angling centre ,you need to book in advance though . other than that its digging it your-self ,I cant give you my spots for digging though ,I'd get ex-comunicated by the mates . mud and mussel beds are were to look .

if you fancyed a wee drve to larne you can buy good bags of rag for 4.50 at angling supplies on main street. 1 bags more than enough for a session. i always ring on a fri and book it for saturday so am guaranteed it. as for belfast angling center i would stay well clear as its way over priced. good fishing by the way. g

class photos mate, well done! A great variety of mini species also.
Belfast Angling centre is located in Argyle Business centre. Always very helpful mate and they have a great selection of fresh and frozen baits.
