Report:

I was using the float and fishing about 13 feet deep and I got a few bites but only connected to one fish for 5 seconds and then it was gone,

As I only had time to dig 11 lug before the tide pushed me off the beach I knew I couldn.t afford to waste the worms so I had another look at my end tackle.. I had the float above a swivel and onto that was 3ft of line with a lead on the end and a 10inch snood half way between swivel and lead..

We all know that are masters for stripping bait off hooks so I started to think that float and lead might be keeping my bait in a position where the fish could just pick at it with ease.. So off came everything and I put the lead under the float and above the swivel then tied a 4ft trace to the swivel with the hook at the end of this.

My thinking being that the mad rush of water would pull my bait in every direction and the wrasse would have to work fast to catch it and sure enough the next cast caught me the smaller fish.. 2 casts later got me the specimen cert.

You might try this method if the fish are being a bit fussy..

didn.t get to use my last 2 worms as it was getting dark and in my rush to go get worms I forgot my head light,

I tried and tried to show the true size of the fish as I measured it as I would anyone else.s fish at a match and that is to measure down, in other words it came in at 46.5 cm so I will say its 46cm,

I had fierce difficulty in showing this on film because of the slope I was on and I believe your not allowed to drive nails into the fish to stop it flapping about,
