i fished here in the middle of the beach from 19:00 to 22:00 on new years eve. conditions were pretty spot on, calm with a slight south westerly. the fish however hadn't read the script and were not very obliging. in thr first hour up to high tide i had two small codling (under 1lb) there was then a bitless hour over high tide but i did manage three doggies and two codling, around one and a half pound each, in the last hour. bait was frozen mackerel for the dogs and fresh peeler crab for the codling, i also tried lug and mussle but to no avail. all fish were caught at about eighty yards range and all were returned alive.

Ballyquinn & Ardmore

#2 Post by drseafish »

I fished Ballyquinn east last Sunday (02/01/05) with two mates 2 hrs down from full tide. Only 2 small coalies to show. Went to the pier at Ardmore for the next 2 hours and had 2 doggies and 1 small whiting. Things were very calm, but it was a dropping neap tide. I thought the gale the previous day would have stirred it up but to no avial.
