People:Me and a mate Pete
Duration:5 Hours
Tide: Falling
Weather:Blowy to say the least
Bait: Ragworm
Rigs:Simple 1 hook
Results:Rock Cook Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Shanny, Rogy Goby, Pollock, Poor Cod, Pouting
Report: My mate Pete got a new rod and was dying to get out to try it out. We headed to Bangor with the intention of fishing off the back of the pier but the weather put an end to that. We decided to try the inside of the harbour for some of Wrasse and mini species. There must have been a couple of dozen other anglers coming and going throughout the day with nothing to show for there efforts Sammy and Sally (the local seals) made sure of that. They were hanging around all day looking for scraps (which werent coming from our direction). Soon after setting up we were into bites with a couple of nice wee Ballan Wrasse. Then Pete got a Rock Cook Wrasse (which I originally thought was a Corkwing) thanks to Ronalds and Stephens mini guide I was soon put right. Then Pouting and Pollock came on the feed. Pete got another Rock Cook and a Shanny both of which I would have liked to add to my species list. We moved down to the Mackeral stand which provided the Poor cod and Rock Goby which is a new species for me. All in all it turned out to be a good days fishing.

Ronald from the forum did a species guide I cant find it on the Forum but I have a copy if you pm me your email address I will send you it. There are alot of the small species common to our waters in it. Im sure Ronald wont mind.

Good to see the mini species saved the day Jonny ,I'm heading down the pier this evening for a few hours ,hopefully the wind will have died down , If you're wanting to take a run out again .
As for the mini species guide it was in the species hunt section under fish id but it seems to have been lost in the forum downtime , hopefully steve still has the original and can repost it ,maybe get him to sticky it in the shore question and answers .
