People:me and big mick

Duration:7-11pm

Tide:falling

Weather:fine, mild, some showers later

Bait:rag, mack, squid

Rigs:2 hook flapper. feathers

Results:me, 1 flounder, 3 whiting, 1 mackeral, 2 doggies, 1 grey gurnard.
Big Mick, 1 mackeral, 4 doggies.

Report: Set up on the rocks near the harbour and got the flounder on a 2 hook flapper baited with rag early on (thought it was a plaice till i saw the photo later on  ). Lots of kids feathering for mackeral and i spent lots of time fixing reels, giving them line and hooks etc, till I copped on and told them i didnt have any :? . They didnt catch any macks and I didnt see many being caught except on the other side of the cove , the rocks the far side of the steps.

Big Mick arrived about an hour after me and put his rod together. He keeps it in the back of his jeep with line ,hooks, and sometimes even the bait from the last session still on it   . He was using mack fillets and got a doggie soon after he arrived.

I was getting big clumps of weed all night but there didnt seem to be any where he was casting. He caught a mackeral as he reeled in a 2 hook flapper and i put on a set of feathers . This resulted in a mack straight away but that was it , no more mackeral. I got 2 of the whiting on feathers soon after and was delighted to also get a Grey Gurnard ( i think  ) on them, another new species  .

The weather was great with just a few showers later on. Most of the fish were caught in the last hour but this may be due to 3 seals being in front of us earlier on and i'm sure a seal took a fish as i reeled it in :? . They were patrolling up and down waiting for someone to catch a fish :? .

Hi Mark, wasnt too bad there, the kids didnt stay too long once Big Mick appeared  , most of the others that were spinning looked like they knew what they were doing, I didnt see anyone losing gear. Delighted with the new species. The doggies were all pretty big too.
