People: Just me

Duration: 15.30 - 20.30

Tide: flood

Weather:fine, calm

Bait:rag

Rigs: float

Results: 10 pollock, 5 wrasse, 2 blennies

Report:After catching a big wrasse here earlier in the week, thought I'd give it another go.

Arrived to find where I had fished last time occupied by 2 others, so fished out by the old bathing pool.

A few timid bites in the first hour or so, but no fish. Saw a few mullet swimming in close to shore, so changed tactics for an hour, shortened the length on the float to just a foot or so drop - it was not to be though.

I had seen a small mullet in the old bathing pool diving for cover as I walked past, so thought what the heck, and put on a size 6 hook and freelined with a bit of rag. Left it in for 15 minutes and reeled in to catch a small blenny. Tried again, same result, another small blenny,,,,that was enough of that

The area had become busy with swimmers, so I moved further round the cliffs to find the 2 guys I have seen earlier packing up, so I resumed my place from earlier in the week.

The tide was now on the way in, and at last giviing a bit of depth out in front of me.

The fishing was then steady, but not exciting, a quite 1/2 hour or so, then a flurry of bites, with the odd fish, a quite 1/2 hour or so, then a flurry of bites etc etc.

I did miss one reasonable fish, which had snagged before I got a good strike in, and lost 2 smallish pollock that spat the hook a metre or so from the shore.

No fish bigger than 3/4lb :(

I've posted enough pic's of wrasse and pollock lately so havent bothered this time

nice one
its good to change tactics to suit conditions. you'd think the swimmers would have the cop to stay away if you were there first. could you imagine if they were there first and you came along and cast into the middle of them.
