People:Me
Duration:6:20pm till 9:55pm
Tide:19:00 (5.0m) 12:37 (0.2m)
Weather:westerly calming later on.
Bait:sand eel, refrozen mackerel and sand eel
Rigs: up and overs, golds rig and 3 hook flapper
Results:
1 whiting, 2 dabs on the one cast of the 3 hook flapper to mackerel before 7pm
A 12lb ray to the up and over on sand eel/squid up and over at distance after 9pm . Next cast produced another large ray on but went to ground half way before 9:30pm.
2 dogs exither side of the big tide run one after 7pm one after the large ray.
Report: Plenty of weed in the water that made fishing difficult with the big spring tide. After the main tide run this was not as big a problem but I could still see large rafts of weed out there. I was fishing one rod alot of the time because of this and fishing was impossible for some of the tide run. I could see when the tide died enough to fish and lauched the ray bait out. I couldnt walk the ray to where it could be easily pulled in as there was a lump of weed in the way so I had to climb down to the water holding onto the leader and pull it it out of the water one handed hoping I wouldnt slip into deep water. Tide went dead just before 10pm so it was time for home.

Cracking ray there Donagh
There was some serious weed in the estuary on Sunday , even off the boat. It really stank in the heat as well!
Big tides all week as well.
Best of luck over the next few evenings.
Thought about tope off beal point at all?

Have a pic on the camera but I have to check it on the pc yet to see if its ok
Its difficult to get time to fish beal with family and work. You would have to get fresh mackerel, then fish it it on a night tide and then the place could be murdered with weed when you get there.

Picture of the fish. It was up on the album but the album picture link has now been removed for the SAI club. It seems like this a web site for the SAI club only now.
