Kilcoole and Greystones 24.05.08

Sun May 25, 2008 4:21 pm

People:Myself and the brother.

Duration:210:00ish until 04:30ish

Tide:High was about 03:15

Weather:Mild

Bait:Fresh rag, Fresh peeler, frozen peeler, frozen lug, frozen macks.

Rigs:Pat Pennels clipped, Three hook flappers.

Results:1 codling, 2 Rockling.

Report:Headed out to Kilcoole as I heard ray were showing up to the right, got there around nine and there was a nice surf but we were plagued with kelp dragging and tangling rigs.
It was really hard work with two rods out and by midnight, neither of us had had a bite so we decided to pack up and head for the less exposed Greystones North beach.
Got to Greystones in time to fish into high tide and just in or about I took the codling at distance on crab and black lug cocktail and then two rockling in quick succession on the flapper rod, also to crab.
The brother was having a kip about high tide and blanked as a result.

It was an alright session, but the weed was a killer in Kilcoole.

The mess on the beach there by the archway is outrageous by the way. There were two skangers there in a tent with a fire going when we arrived, they were pitched exactly where I would normally have set up, so we moved a bit further down. Made sure we had the filleting knives on us because they looked bogie, they proved their boginess when about three they got too cold I presume and decided to go home, instead of packing up the tent, they just torched it, left a huge mess on the beach, dirtbirds.
