Killiney Sat 10 May

Sun May 11, 2008 4:56 pm

People:2

Duration:6pm-10pm

Tide:High 4pm I think

Weather:Warm and foggy

Bait:Ragworm

Rigs:3 hook size4 flapper, 2 hook size1 clipped

Results:eel, 2 wrasse, bass, crab.

Report: Went to dalkey first looking for a few mackerel. Only got 2 but another angler kindly gave us the last of his ragworm so decided to give killiney a go. Eel was gut hooked by feathers on first cast. Then a small wrasse (my first) on the rag. A while later another this one much bigger (about 2lbs roughly). Then on the very last cast with the rest of the rag packed on the hooks I got my very first bass (about 18 inches or so- no measuring tape). At first i thought it was just a dogfish. Couldn't believe it when it broke the surface :D What a feeling. Unfortunately no camera

I know, I'm raging i didnt have the camera :x Also have to get a tripod. Missed three or four other strong bites because it took me so long to get the rod out of the waste pipe  Anyone got any opinions on the veals tripods?

I've an Ian Golds tripod and I find it excellent, its got great resistance to corrosion, well worth the money.

if you want to hook up more bass HOLD your rod you will miss more bites if you use a rod stand ,thats why bass rods are smaller and lighter than beachcasters :D

Thats a good point. Will have to get a nice light rod anyway. Arms were aching from using my 15 foot beachcaster for feathering
