People: myself and blackie
Duration: 16.30 - 22.50
Tide: LW 21.00
Weather: bright until 6 then overcast - no wind
Bait: fresh rag and mack
Rigs: 2,3 hook flappers, single pats, pulleys
Results: me 4 flounder (1 poss plaice) 2 whiting, blackie 2 flounder 3 whiting
Report: what can i say glorious day knocked off work early - blackie was vvv eager - heard the macks were in colimore and went down before lunch and got 5 - had one for lunch - others for bait
arrived down and the tide was on the ebb
there was one chap between us and the fence using rag stayed for about an hour - didnt seem to be doing much and he left
there was another chap spinning the far side on the steps
so we just set up on the point of the left of the bay - it was only as the tide went out did we realise the mine field we were casting into
after about an hour got the first flat on mack at relative distance - then blackie got another - both on mack - both counters
then we started to get snagged lost 2 and blackie one
got a small flounder on rag in close
then it went quiet
as the overcast conditions coupled with the dusk coming in started a bit of feeding - i got another counter poss a plaice was very oval rather than diamond shaped and didnt have the rough lateral line - hard to tell in the half light
then knocks started a plenty - thought they were ravenous flats but no - whiting - dropped a good few and got another flat in between another counter
it apppears they went on the feed with the turn of the tide
blackie got another flat aswell as lots of whiting landing 3 - christened his beachcaster nicely - but lost the handle on the reel while bringing in the first whiting - must have forgotten to tighten the handle!!!
the mack was better in the day then the rag took over - then it didnt matter in the darkness
nice looking bay - kept one well out for a dog but the didnt show - seemed pretty shallow out there at low tide - a very flat bottom
good long session and the blank run busted 8)
