Well done Tomtum, good results. I had frozen mack myself last night but I made a hash of thawing it out in the microwave. I t was mush and half cooked   but with a bit of elastic(well lots !!!) it stayed on the hook and caught a flounder  . That sure was a cold north wind  .

I've fished it a couple of times with the saltwater fly rod.
Results 2 mack and one small pollock, for 3 days fishing
All fish were caught on a spring tide half way down the pier. Can't reach them with fly at other times.
I will be hitting the Mullet down there this year on the fly rod.
I tried it last year, but I hadn't caught one before and didn't know the tactics to use.
By the way, in low tide. Do you know how many bass visit the outlet from the power station, I counted 10 on one very clear day. In a foot and a half of water it's worth throwing a sandeel in there.Thought they were Mullet at first, but now I know better.

Howaya Tom, I've probably chatted to you at some point.
Were you fishing at the start of the lighthouse with the rod up against the mooring or life ring or whatever it is? If that's where you were, would you be able to tell me where you're casting to not to get snagged, and do you use a rotten bottom setup there?

Hiya Tom,
Tried poolbeg lighthouse myself 4 weeks ago. In fairness tide was all wrong, fished 2 hours either side of lowtide and not a bite. Found it difficlut to fish outside the port wall due to the rocks (and losing loads of gear) so fished inside the ports, not a bite all night - 4 long hours and yeh the walks a bit of a killer.
anthony2carr, I have heard alright that there are Bass around the hotwater outlet, but couldnt find the outlet itself, where abouts is it :?:
I even checked on google earth to see if I could find it and couldnt, is it the mucky pool that comes in towards the roadside :?:
   Eyesrielly... a few goods tip to thaw out your frozen mack next time, either run it under the hot water tap for a few minutes (mack must be wrapped up watertight for obvious reasons) or put boiling water in a flask and leave for 15 minutes, then drain water and put mack in the flask, then seal flash(mack will be defrosted by the time you reach your mark) or finally, put it on the dash of your car (by the hot air vents upto the front windscreen) and put the blowers on hot for 5/10 minutes - this may result in a slightly smelly car however

hi eoin we are sure to have met if you fish there a lot .Dont use rotten bottoms but lead lifts. If you can cast any lenth at allyou should clear the rocks it is on the retrieve you get the problem.I dont want to say too much about marks in case some people take umbridge. Shampo as you reach the pier turn left and you fall into the outflow. I dont fish the outflow at all but I have seen some bass there from time to time

Ah, are you the bloke who makes his own lifts from milk cartons? I've a feeling you lent me a lift the first time I was down there.
Shortly afterwards I had my first and only schooly bass off the rocks there.
