Report: Rolled these reports together, but nearly as much work as two reports, so niot sure why I'm bothering....
Beach 18/04/08 - After an abortive attempt to pour some leads and Pete tying me some flappers, lured to East Cork beach based on tales of a specimen flounder and shoals of bass swimming in the waves the night before.
When we arrived, wind was blowing straight off shore keeping surf down. Water pretty cloudy and big bank of weed at shoreline. Not particularly enthused we cast out anyway. Couple of knocks early on, bait coming but ravaged by tiny mouths. Pete got the coalies first, I got the whiting towards the end of the session. Tired and disappointed we headed home. Same old story, "should have been here yesterday".
Rock mark 21/04/08 - As it was so calm, headed to rock mark in the hope of some ray. After we got there, Pete told me he and two others had blanked there few days before, not even getting any bites.....
Seemed like it was going to continue that way as not a sign of anything first couple of casts (I was using sandeel, and Pete was using a multi bait 3 hook flapper). Lovely evening all the same, warm (well not cold anyway). Just as big red moon had risen, got some doggie looking bites on one of my rods. Managed to miss it.
Decided we'd both go old school and switched to big lumps of mackerel. This lured in some more dogs and Pete managed two in successive casts. I managed to miss two more fish (probably dogs again).
Managed the whiting to a lump of mackerel on my last cast. Fish were coming in at different distances.
