I had some lug so decided to make a break for it for a few hours. I can only fish when I can rather than when I want these days, but its good to be out there rather than thinking about it. Hardly been out all year so I needed to get the batteries recharged. I was also using braid for the first time. I was over at the castle side and there was only a little surf in close andconditions were not ideal for Bass. I must admit despite Cortazs great reports ,this beach has never been kind to me in daylight and even though I wasn't expecting much I thought I might pick up a flounder or so. Some terns were working in close when I arrived, which falsely gave me hope that some fish may be active. Well I fished two rods, one in close and the other past 100yards. I used braid for the first time on a fixed spool and ledgered in close. I was very impressed as I could feel every undulation in the sand reeling in, imagine what a bite would do! I also made some fluorocarbon traces, which I did find a little difficult, due to the fact that I was only using light line and long snoods. Most of my problems came from unpacking them rather than with there use, but I have noticed a few little things that I will need to modify (bead size, stops, hook knots etc..). I think those foam spools are a must for these guys. Anyway I wasn't to despondent as it was a nice day and I avoided laying that patio again.

Tried it myself from 12.30 to 14.30 in front of the rocks at the castle end, still nice surf rolling in although wind had calmed. Thought yesterday might be the day to break the bass drought.... but it wasnt to be. Not a sausage. :cry: :cry:

me, roger the doger and hush1 fished the extream westeren end on sat. for few hours over H.W. we had a cupple of small bass ... would have thought it would have fished well sunday??. had planned to fish.... went on the drink instead 8)
