ah... the flatties are in...

other than the odd 2lbs+ flounder there are dab and plaice been caught very regularly and even five bearded rockilng (caught one last night and one last week) coalfish are comming in as well as whiting (SMALL FOR THE MOMENT) but all the flatties are a good size averaging 1.2-1.5 lbs

have been using running ledger with squid , worms (lug) and mackerel..

one good thing about this beach is there's a good chance of bass (weather conditions needed) and sea trout have been caught...

as for in salthill (by aquarium) there are still doggies and decent size huss been caught 9 lbs +...

Hi Steve

You certain they are five bearded rather than the more usual three, in which case, any chance of a picture? There is also another species called a shore rockling which has - although there is some debate - four "beards"

RSVP mate, nice fishing BTW...

Is there any place in silverstrand in particular that fishes well or is it just off the main beach? Just wondering because I am not too familiar to the place and don't recall any fresh water outlets or other known flounder marks nearby...
