Fitzgeralds Strand, Tramore, Waterford 15.4.2008

Thu Apr 17, 2008 1:15 am

People: Myself and bruce

Duration: 4 hours midday to 4 pm

Tide: up to HW and down 1 hour

Weather: brilliant sunshine, bitterly cold E/SE wind, slight chop on the water, warm in the shelter of the cliffs

Bait: peeler crab, sandeel, lugworm - all excellent condition

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, pulleys

Results: 1 flounder (1.5 lbs)

Report: Bruce took the fish in right at the end. Enjoyable day out watched 20 gannets battering fish off the sand bar at the end of the channel into Saleens. Some people fishing there for sea trout spinning to no effect. Wandered down to the end of Brownstown with difficulty to survey it for another day. Lovely spot. Very shallow and did not expect to catch anything other than a flattie or two, should have stayed in Saleens. Such is life. Burnt to a crisp, time to get out the SPF! :D

BTW, thanks to all for the PMs - we chickened out of the some the marks mentioned owing to the bitter SE wind. This mark afforded protection.

Cheers

Gday Mr Green!

Should have introduced myself, but never mind. Yeah, bit to bright for any decent fishing, would have liked to have a crack at the pollack mind! Had the lure box and spinning rod with me... another day perhaps.

Cheers
