kilgorman beach, co wexford, 5th april 08

People:me, Neil (fishface) and John Bunn

Duration:approx 8pm-11pm

Tide:lfirst hour rising ,then dropping

Weather: clear skies, northwesterlies

Bait: mack and ragworm (all dug by John except for Neils 5 :roll: )

Rigs: all sorts

Results: dabs, whiting, doggies and shore rockling.




Report:Met the lads at Jack Whites and followed them on a mystery tour which ended up at Kilgorman . I followed them trying to keep them in sight down roads barely wider than the car :shock: :shock: .Who needs sat nav :?: :lol: :lol: I might as well have been wearing a blindfold as i'd never find it again on me own :oops: :oops: :We were after bass, well the others were targeting them, i'm a hit and hope merchant :oops: . After grilling another angler on the beach for info, we were in high hopes of a bass as we set up . I was in the middle and was more concerned with not embarassing myself with my casting :oops: . I got lots of good advice again from the two boys :) . We all got off to a good start with a dab each on our first cast and we were catching on most casts. . Neil got our hopes up more as he reeled in a good fish (bass :roll: :wink: ) but alas he lost it in the surf.This was the only glimpse of a bass we got :cry: . We were catching fish,doggies, dabs, rockling and whiting, but no bass. I tried to look as disappointed as the others not to catch a bass but I was just delighted to be out catching anything. My tally was 4 dabs, 2 whiting and a doggie, and the other two lads if anything caught more. We left at 11 , maybe the bass will be there next time :?: :?: .

nice photos dave,again and again and again, you will take photography up professionally yet. heard there were no bass in brittas either as a matter of fact there was nothing in brittas, there is a much easier way down to kilgorman but my driver john being a local yokal would not listen to my advice and did his own thing, that is go on a mystery tour of north wexford and surrounding districts. ah well you got to see places you would never see if you were on your own. hope all the travel did not put you off coming down to the country folk again cheers neil

Thanks John, i'm getting some great advice and help from people i've met fishing. :) I've found that people are very generous with their knowledge.

Thanks Nialler, that is a large scissors in the pic :roll: but i have to admit that Neil caught the biggest dab of the session.

The weather killed it for you mate. A cold snap like that can ruin bass fishing. I have found that bass fishing can nearly die off when a cold spell like that comes in. We were nearly going to Kerry this weekend, glad we didnt or the fishing could have been appauling.
