People:Mate Declan and myself
Duration:1pm to 5pm
Tide:Flooding
Weather:F3/4 north westerly, bright sunshine, quite pleasant
Bait:Frozen mackerel
Rigs:Three hook and two hook flappers
Results:Flounder & sea trout(all released bar one that was gut hooked)
Report:Beautiful spring day for fishing so headed to a beach up the road that for some reason i'd never fished, had drove by it countless times but with plenty of other good marks nearby had never bothered. Clearing the sand dunes we were well impressed when we eventually set foot on the strand, quite big with a number of streams entering along its length. The surf running was perfect but soon found there was a really strong lateral run taking the 5oz roller around in an arc, moved up to the right hand corner and found movement a little gentler there.
First time this year i've really felt that summer is coming, tucked in that right hand corner out of the wind was perfect, proper sun trap and must have dozed off on the sand a couple of times 8) . It wasn't really until the sun got a little lower in the sky before we got any action, flounders first up to 30cm before the sea trout arrived. Five in total poppped out, with the best being roughly around 2lb although he was a bit on the thin side. All this came in about an hour and a half before the fish moved on again. Still it was nice to catch especially for a first try on a new venue. Definitely be back in May when the trout have managed a bit of feeding put on a bit of weight.

Yorkshire Man I'll send you a pm. Danny your not far off with your guess  Some good fishing about Sligo generally, more we've started to explore the more surprises its continued to produce.
