People:Myself and Carpets.

Duration: 4.30pm - 11.30pm

Tide: Low tide at 530pmish

Weather: overcast , heavy fog, breeze from the south.

Bait:Crab, Lug, Squid, Sand eel , Mackerel and Lures.

Rigs:Pennel pulleys.

Results:4 Coal Fish

Report:What a disaster!!

Arrived on location, great surf running, water was gin clear but visibility was poor due to the heavy fog. So we broke out the Maria Chase/Angel Kiss and headed for the hot spot. Good rip running and sprats were visible too. We only had a limited time on the hot spot due to the incoming tide so after 30Min's we left with so much as a knock bump or follow on the lures. On the way back we spotted a fish in the suds in about 6 inch's of water , Carpets nearly stepped on him!

Back to the van then swapped the spinning gear for heavy stuff and set off to target the Bass. We chose a location that we knew would be cut off by the incoming tide, this was OK as we planned to fish here till Saturday when the tide had fallen!

Two rods a piece in the water at various ranges and various baits to source the fish, all that showed up was 3 coalies after 4 hours......

Change of plan was in order, we needed to change location and try and pull one out of the bag on the start of the fall!

One problem though ... in order to get get back we had to negotiate multiple electric fences a field full of curios cattle , and a couple of funky looking bulls thrown in for good measure who were attracted to our headlights! All this plus we were carrying enough gear to invade a small country !!!...not good

After Carpets was finished getting lifted out of it by the electric fence
We made a lights off maneuver across the fields that the SAS would have been proud of :!:

Set up again further up the coast, baits in the water , rain starts to shower us , rods remain motionless...until I saw two nice pulls on the crab I had out...deadly Bass I think ...short time later a coalie arrives through the surf. We packed we had had enough...bet.com.

And the funny thing is it will all be done again Sunday and Monday :P

Happy Days!

I caught 4 coalfish last night too - over a four hour session. But I had a much less interesting journey back from the mark - a 50 m walk across the beach back to the car
