Me, and 5 friends

Weather . mild and no wind.

fished 3 pm to 8 pm

Baits - lug, rag squid , mackeral and crab.

Catch 2 Coal fish and 1 rockling

We set of to fish at Pincher Bay near Fanad head expecting good sea conditions due to the fact we had only light offshore winds the previous few days. When we reached the point where we could see the sea it was a shock to find 30 foot + waves smashing the coastline as far as the eye could see. All the venues in the area north of the Swilly mouth were totally unfishable and extremely dangerous. We headed to Portsalon further up the Swilly to find this venue rough but safe to fish. This was the first time in almost 20 yrs off fishing this area on a weekly basis that we have seen such rough conditions even in the height of storms. We have no idea as to what created such sea conditions as we have had no gale force winds in recent days. There was a very large swell coming in from the attlantic coinciding with low tide on a large spring tide. Any way the fishing was crap with only 3 small fish being caught after dark.
