Report:No work today so headed for ferry point for an all nighter. What a waste of time, should have stayed in by the fire. The wind was shocking. The forecast was for sw wind but it was se all the way.The only happy creatures last night were the crabs which had a good all feed on our baits,5 mins was the max we could leave our baits in the water.
With so many crabs around and bugger all else we decided to head into the eye of the storm at green park.It was horrendous and to be honest dangerous as the tide flooded the waves were crashing v hard up against the promenade.
One bite on the famous last cast resulted in the only fish of the session a lean 2pounder codlind. After last night i don't think we will be fishing down that way for along time to come.Thems the breaks i suppose, but a few fish would have made the madness of such a late session worthwhile, anybody seen any mackeral recently i need fish soon any fish.
Tight Lines,
Mike.

I fished Ferry Point on Sunday afternoon, 2.30-6.00 pm, and had the same problem with crabs - they stripped the bait in minutes  - I am surprised they were still hungry after all the bait they stole on me.
I blanked as well - unless you count one crab and four mussels.
Earlier as I was driving across Youghal Bridge there was a competition on and as I was passing one angler was hauling in what must have been a 3 -3.5 lb codling - so I was hoping that they would have been a few codling passing Ferry Point on their way back out on the ebb, but if there was my bait didn't last long enough with those cannibalistic crabs.

Thanks for the replies.Maybe there was too much fresh in the river but to be honest ive fished it before with constant heavy rain for days previously, but it didn't seem to have much affect on the fishing, plenty of codling and flats, but im afraid thats fishing i suppose otherwise everyone would be an angler.
Just as a footnote to cap it all,i just went to recharge my speleo catchmaster to find the connecting wire to the battery has split from the main battery section  :!: :!: .Now i must try refit the wires otherwise its goin to be a good bright new headlamp with littlle or no wires, any suggestions just in case jim el fix it can't repair it,does anyone know what macevors number is
Mike.
