Nice flounder! well done Steve
I know what you mean about rope and nets! It seems to have more than its fair share!
It is a actually a pretty reasonable bass beach and I would have to disagree that bass only make rare appearances there, its just a beach thats pretty sensitive to conditions
A bit of time & research needs to be put in to find out when conditions are favorable for bass fishing there. A few of the more senior anglers I know gave me some advice which was a start.
I fished it 3 times late last year and had bass on two of those occassions, the two fish were over 3lb and another bass was lost.
sandeel accounted for each fish as its a bait that seems to work well there
Also heard results of a comp there last year and a bass was taken so they are about! :)

well adam good to hear you got into the bass
as ever for me another blank in fanore - thats 7 blanks there in a row!!!
:x :?
anyway steve forgot to tell ye about the biggest haul of the night - a wooden palette came in for me - along with a smattering of rope/twine/weed
funnily enough my gear held for that fecking thing - and then snapped on the next 2 casts to rafts of weed!!!
say i had about 8 casts all night with the weed/rope clearing!
had a rogue wave up to me waist, didnt see it coming at all
and as steve said the beach was exhilarating

Cheers Brian,
I must be up front and say that I made bass fishing my obsession last year and fished for nothing else really! so they were well earned when I got them lol, I had some great fishing from other marks too though with my biggest bass being a smidgen over 6lb which made me very happy.
but my main problem was getting time to get out fishing.
Your pallet sounds like a good fight!
I had the best fight of my life in Fanore too, from a huge leather banded postal sack!!!which I was full sure was a monster Ray!! lol dragged me all over the beach with the tide too lol
Its a deadly place for rogue waves!! seriously dangerous on a good tide! least you will be aware next time, very dangerous though, and is notorious for shifting sands beneath your feet and much better to not wade there.

the waves rip and change direction in an instant - i suppose it has to be expected in those conditions!
postal sack, now thats a new one!

nice to see fanore produce something live anyway, i'm sick of the place no matter how it looks too many blank hours on that beach. :-(
